Selected as a 2026 Public Engagement Project Fellow
I’ve been named a 2026 Public Engagement Project (PEP) Fellow at UMass Amherst. I’m joining five other faculty members in the program’s 12th cohort, which trains researchers to communicate their work beyond academic audiences — to lawmakers, journalists, practitioners, and the broader public.
As a PEP Fellow, I’ll be working to bring our research on renewable energy siting and permitting to the policymakers and media outlets that can put it to use. With states across the country actively reforming how they permit wind and solar projects, there’s a real opportunity to connect what we’re finding in the data to the decisions being made right now.
The fellowship comes at a good time. My recent publications in Frontiers in Sustainable Energy Policy and the Policy Studies Journal have generated interest from media and practitioners, and PEP’s training in public-facing communication will help me build on that momentum.
I’m looking forward to learning alongside this year’s cohort, which includes scholars working on topics ranging from urban inequality to climate impacts of household consumption. Read more about the fellowship and the full cohort at UMass News.
